An Eco-Conscious Ethic

Found Treasure is a brand born from the sea and the earth. It’s very roots lie amongst the salt and rock, jewellery created from natural resources and crafted with loving hands. Using only the highest quality gold and silver to encapsulate each unique piece of seaglass, Found Treasure jewellery is designed and made to last a lifetime, without harming the earth in any way. From start to finish, each piece has an eco-conscious ethic at it’s core, and we do everything we can to make sure the brand is as eco-friendly as possible.

Seaglass is in itself, a recycled, second-hand treasure! Seaglass is essentially glass bottles that were tipped into the ocean around 50-100 years ago, smashing into fragments by the waves and currents. Each piece was naturally tumbled by the sea, before being found on the shore line.

This evolution of natural to man-made, to once again being shaped by nature before being shaped by Naomi, shows a beautifully simple cycle of giving and receiving between the earth and us. Each piece is completely unique and individual, meaning no item of jewellery is the same, much like every thing else found in nature.

Everything created in the Found Treasure studio is crafted individually with care, and nothing is mass-produced. This reduces waste, surplus materials, and left-over stock. These small batches also mean that every mermaid’s jewellery box will be as individual as herself. When a piece of Found Treasure jewellery is on it’s way to you, it’ll be carefully wrapped in tissue paper and placed inside a natural and biodegradable, hand stamped cotton bag. This bag can be popped in the compost, or reused to keep any number of things safe; pendants and earrings, bits and bobs, or even seeds to sow next summer!

Each custom made purchase will include a handwritten note from Naomi on handmade and recycled cotton rag paper. By using local suppliers, Found Treasure minimises shipping pollution and supports a creative, local business. We are also proud to work with R3 Packaging, another Kiwi company that produce innovative recycled packaging that can be reused or composted. The envelopes can be popped in the recycling or the compost, or you could even use them to send something else to a dear friend.

Without nature, there wouldn’t just be no Found Treasure, but there would be no us! Mother Earth plays such a vital part in our very existence, and we couldn’t imagine a world without the beautiful green and blue spaces that we are so blessed with. By being as eco-friendly as possible, we hope to give back to the earth as much as it gives to us, and we encourage all the water-women, modern mermaids, eco-warriors and sea lovers to join with us in the fight to protect the thing that we love the most.
