Rockpools. The longer you look the more you see.

There is an untouched world that lives below the shimmering surface of the sea. Rocky pools filled and refreshed by the ebb and flow of the tide harbour tiny treasures. The longer you look the more you see. Witnessing the magical world of tiny shells, flowering anemones, dancing seaweed and occasionally the searching arm of a tiny octopus. Even the rocks that house these creatures have more depth that first meets the eye; perfectly round holes made by the prevailing swells, white lines of calcium running through navy slate, rough barnacles clinging to smooth faces, wishing stones laying on the bottom of the pool.

Will we ever outgrow the habit of rockpooling? As children we’d toddle down to the rocky shores, shouldering bamboo cane nets, wearing nothing but our knickers and a sun hat. Looking for fish, crabs, sea shells and pirate treasure. To this day we are reminded of our innocent childhood selves as we gaze into the clear pools and glimpse the underwater world below. The deeper, wider rockpools offer us a calm space to swim when the sea is raging, and diving down to the bottom with snorkel goggles allows us to live in Atlantis for a moment, the only disturbance being bubbles escaping from pursed lips, time slowing, staying submerged for as long as possible. Oh, how things are different down below; seaweed is constant motion, blue pebbles shiny and slick, animals and shells appear magnified, the noise of the world entirely subdued. A place of peace and perfection.

Founder Naomi finds inspiration from both the pools and the tiny eco systems within them. Her latest Rockpool Collection is based on elements such as seaweed, detailed shells and abstract sea shapes. Textures and shapes that hold natural beauty, just being as they are, turned into wearable treasure. Naomi has created a collection of silver and gold pieces that can be worn everyday as a precious memory of the sea. From golden spirals to silver clams and necklaces taking the fluid form of eternally shifting seaweed. Naomi dreamt of capturing the life hidden in the often overlooked, and her newest collection offers insight into her much loved local coastline.

‘I wanted to create a collection that reminds us of the joy found in those moments when you find something uniquely and naturally beautiful. In that instant it has a personal, heartfelt connection and becomes a priceless capture of time. Each piece has been carefully considered and crafted in quality metals, so that your piece will last forever.’

Perhaps the beauty of rockpools is that they are ever changing. With each cycle of the tide the water is refreshed and new things come and go. Whilst mussels and limpets cling to the walls, fish make their escape, replaced by different animals. Shells are transient, seaglass may enter and be washed away just as quickly. These tiny underwater worlds remind us that we are in constant motion, and there is nothing scary about change, in fact it provides us with new experiences, outlooks and landscapes. You never know what beauty may arrive when you allow yourself to go with the flow.

Take a little piece of treasure with you wherever you go with the Rockpool Collection…
