Ocean Diamonds
A Treasure Carried by the Sea
There’s something about the ocean that invites us to slow down. To breathe more deeply. To connect with something older, quieter, and endlessly beautiful. Here in Falmouth, with the tide always within reach, that connection is part of daily life, for me, and for the jewellery I create.
When I discovered Ocean Diamonds, I immediately felt a deep resonance. Their approach to sourcing natural diamonds - sustainable, ethical, and in harmony with nature - mirrored my own values. It was a natural fit.
Unlike traditional natural diamonds that are extracted through mining the earth, Ocean Diamonds are recovered from the seabed in an incredibly gentle way. These natural diamonds have already made their journey over millions of years, carried from the heart of the earth, through rivers, and eventually settled on the ocean floor off the coasts of Namibia and South Africa.
What makes them so special is the method used to recover them. Rather than causing lasting environmental damage, the divers work in the surf zone, an area that is constantly reshaped by waves and tides. Their presence leaves virtually no trace. They don’t use explosives or trawl the seabed, ensuring the environment is preserved while recovering diamonds. It’s a low-impact process that honours the ocean.
As Ocean Diamonds explains, “There is no lasting damage to the environment and no destruction to the ecosystems from where they are found.” Their divers work in harmony with the ocean’s natural movement, leaving virtually no trace behind. The divers operate in the surf zone, a volatile, constantly moving area where any marks made by their activity are soon washed away by the waves, making their work almost invisible. This eco-friendly approach makes Ocean Diamonds one of the most ethical and sustainable options available today.
The stones themselves are absolutely breathtaking. Formed deep in the earth over billions of years, they are true, natural diamonds. Some are clear and bright, while others have a warm, inviting glow. Each one is unique, as no two diamonds are ever the same. When sourced by Ocean Diamonds, each stone comes with provenance certification, and a traceable history that connects it to its origins.
Their promise is simple and clear: “Ocean Diamonds are ethically sourced, with a minimal impact on the environment. Each diamond comes with full traceability from source to surface.” This commitment to sustainability and ethical practices is something I deeply believe in. Every Ocean Diamond I work with is a treasure, and with it comes the confidence of knowing it has been sourced in a way that’s kind to both people and the planet.
When you choose an Ocean Diamond, you’re not just choosing a beautiful stone. You’re choosing something rare, something with a story. You’re choosing a diamond that carries with it a deep respect for the earth and the ocean that shaped it. The diamond’s journey from river to sea, from the depths of the earth to your hands, feels like a piece of the world’s story, now part of yours.
Here at Found Treasure Jewellery, I’ll help guide you through every step of the process, from sourcing the perfect Ocean Diamond to crafting it into a bespoke piece of jewellery. We’ll select your diamond together based on what speaks to you. Whether it's size, shape, clarity, or something else entirely. Then, we’ll discuss recycled metals, thoughtful settings, and other design elements inspired by the natural flow of the ocean.
I’m based in Falmouth, Cornwall, where the coast is always in sight. The waves influence everything I create, from the soft, fluid lines to the gentle textures that reflect the sea. Every piece I make has the ocean in mind.
Jewellery should carry meaning, and with an Ocean Diamond, it does. It’s more than a stone; it’s a connection to something timeless, a rare treasure shaped by nature’s forces and brought into your life with care. If the sea calls to you, as it does to me, I’d love to help you choose your own Ocean Diamond, one that’s both beautiful and kind to the world around us.
